Los Angeles National Airport
Challenge
The 160,000-square-foot Los Angeles National Airport (LAX) for Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is one of the busiest airports in the world regarding passenger traffic, making the safety and security of travelers a top priority. The facility currently houses the largest police agency in the United States, dedicated exclusively to 24-hour airport activity. LAX needed modernized storage solutions to offer additional personal storage space and better organization for employees, airport security, and travelers.
Solution
McMurray Stern’s role in LAX’s massive modernization efforts focused primarily on designing and installing more than 1,000 personal storage lockers with multi-tier configurations, built-in bench drawers, and electrical components.
These were installed in multiple rooms and floors of the Airport Police Facility. The storage locker solutions were engineered with the end user in mind. The goal was to increase personal security and productivity in multiple spaces throughout the airport.
The McMurray Stern crew also installed an 8 Carriage High-Density Mobile System in the Records Room and Multiple Shelving Units in various areas, including the Evidence Rooms and Armory. Lastly, multiple Storage Cabinets and Weapons Racks were installed throughout the facility. Now, LAX can provide additional storage options and accommodate the operations of critical police and safety functions.
