PRO-TEK VAULTS
Challenge
PRO-TEK Vaults, an industry leader in film preservation, media curation, and digital media services, specializes in preserving valuable film reels for a wide range of clients, including film studios, historical societies, and museums. With a growing inventory of film reels, PRO-TEK Vaults needed to expand its storage capacity while continuing to be able to access and preserve these delicate artifacts and ensuring their long-term preservation.
As PRO-TEK Vaults expanded its client base and acquired more film reels, the need for additional storage solutions became paramount. Traditional shelving systems were never a solution for PRO-TEK as they were inefficient and consumed valuable floor space, limiting the capacity for storing additional reels. Moreover, accessing specific reels was time-consuming and posed the risk of damage to the delicate film material.
Solution
Considering PRO-TEK Vaults’ storage needs and space constraints, McMurray Stern proposed a solution centered around Spacesaver’s high-density shelving — a customizable system designed to maximize storage capacity and accessibility. High-density shelving was the best solution for PRO-TEK Vault’s challenge based on the functionality, weight, and engineering of their current archival storage. The system would allow PRO-TEK to incorporate their own custom-designed systems for climate and humidity control, preventative fire suppression, anti-tip seismic bracing, bar-code tracking and inventory management, and security camera monitoring.“Since 2013, we have consistently maintained a strategic partnership with PRO-TEK Vaults,” stated Randy Hacker, Senior Design & Integration Consultant.
